Established in April 2011, WRi has built up a reputation as a company that delivers results using a range of services aimed at reducing the threat to businesses from Intellectual Property (IP) crime and other illegal activities.
WRi has a diverse workforce comprising of former police officers, trading standards officers and brand protection professionals who work with key public sector partners.
Some of our greatest work to date has been in partnership with Trading Standards, Police, Border Force, IPO, industry and other relevant agencies specialising in Intellectual Property crime.
Graham, a Master’s graduate in IP Law, is a retired Police Officer with over 30 year’s police experience in specialist local, regional and national enforcement agencies. Widely acknowledged as a conscientious and highly committed individual he has been at the forefront of IP crime enforcement in the UK since 2005.
He was instrumental in creating and leading the Intellectual Property Office and National Trading Standards e-Crime Intelligence hubs with responsibility for coordinating intelligence sharing between industry, enforcement and government and held a pivotal role in the development of the National Trading Standards response to illicit trade via Fulfilment Houses.
Graham has represented the UK as a delegate and speaker at national and International conferences and training events and has been the recipient of several awards and plaudits from senior industry, enforcement and government agencies for individual excellence in anti-counterfeiting and intelligence management.
As Business Process Director Cariann works with WRi Group on a part time basis and supports them in many of the back-office functions including finance, human resource, process management and business development. Cariann heads up many of the internal projects and ensures they are managed effectively with positive ROI for the business.
Cariann is also Managing Director of Wize Virtual Admin, an administration team of 9 wonderful ladies. Cariann started this business when she identified that small businesses need to bridge the gap between growth and the need for employees when it comes to the day to day running of their business. Cariann started working with WRi Group in 2013 in the virtual support capacity and over time the role has developed to what it is today.
Cariann is also keen in supporting a local charity that is close to her family’s heart – The Breast Centre Llandough. Cariann is part of the committee for the charity and organises 2 events each year a Christmas Pink Tie Gala Ball and a Strictly Come Dancing inspired event – Strictly Top Dancer of which WRi Group are always involved with and the events to date have raised over £185000.
With a successful 20 year career within the area of Customer Service and Back Office Administration which has included holding main board positions of Administration Director in companies with 30 Million plus turnover, Mandy is one of our Non Exec Directors, bringing a wealth of business process experience with her. Mandy is also the chairperson of her family business, supporting and mentoring the managing director with the operational and strategic elements of the company.
Over the last 7 years Mandy has been heavily involved of the start up community, initially in the role of co founder for Welsh ICE. After a successful exit of this business Mandy is now co founder of Town Square Spaces Ltd providing space for start-up’s and SME businesses to grow and develop pan UK. Mandy is keen in developing entrepreneurship within the younger generation and fills the role of a Big Ideas Role Model with the Welsh Government programme along with supporting the Young Enterprise programme in her local secondary schools.
WRi is the second business for which Mandy holds a NED post and through her variety of expertise she is able to offer WRi, access to her professional network, as well as services such as human resources and financial support.
This team completes the intelligence collection, analysis and management in order to guide development of investigations by using some of the most advanced analytical software within the industry.
Leading on from the intelligence collection this team start the process of developing a full investigation.
They also provide the brand protection services which includes liaising with Trading Standards, Customs and Border Force.
This team then carries out all the physical activity including test purchase and site visits along with supporting police and trading standards with enforcement actions. This team also develop the private criminal prosecution (PCP) service.
